I can only find a couple of things around those dates.

Lenape Day, Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center, 247 Southern Blvd., Chatham, (973)635-6629. Learn all about the original people of this area at this annual festival! Hear a guest speaker, try some native dishes and make some cultural crafts. 9/19, 1-4pm. EARLY BIRD WALK AND WATCH - A bird-watching walk through woods and fields. 9/11, 8:30am. SWAMP WALK - A guided walk through the Great Swamp habitats, covering the flora and fauna of the area. 9/26, 1pm. HARVEST MOON HIKE - Walk under the September full moon, listening for nocturnal animals and enjoying the nighttime woods! 9/28, 6:30pm

TEXTMr. maleak, I went to your website and there was'nt anything worth looking at. I really thought it was going to be a fabulous native site, but it turn out to be an investing site of some kind. My question is did you just want to advertise to our group?

TEXT Little wolf for someone who does not have a drop of native blood in them (and I know who you are) you certainly are putting yourself into full regalia. Please don't try to fool my nation. Our people are very honest and polite, there's an old saying, "be yourself or be by yourself".

He! windridr,
This is my first visit to the site and I think it is fabulous. In regards to posts, I will agree with some others. First how can I see when these posts were dated ? Second, someone mentioned about a need to return here. I don't think games are the answer but I can say that simple friendship will bring me back. Also as one who loves to gather information, maybe some history. I agree wholeheartedly when you say people need to teach the here and now and not speak as if we are in the past but I'll guess many people visit for information. White society seems to be becoming more interested in the truth. WE need to teach then the truth ! I came here seeking the history of my heritage. I was unfortunate to have a grand mother who thought her native background was "dirty" and would not speak of it. My great Grandmother was proud and tried to teach me what she could but I was too young and not around her as often as I should have been. I am being driven by spirits to seek the truth so I can teach other's. I have quickly learned that when people become informed of what really has happened, they are seeing was is now happening. This teaching helps in thier future decision making. The only reason I can see why Pennsylvania will not readily recognize any tribes is that the people making those decisions are poorly educated as to who we really are and what were about. Maybe we are no longer viewed as "savages" but recently I'm finding we are becoming labeled as "tree huggers" This tells me were getting there but we still have a long, long way to go.

Peace on your Journey my Friend !

WELCOME,
I think what Penn. is afraid of is that there would be casinos. What is funnier is that now the mohican sun opened it up here and not the Lenape, so it was not prevented. A tribe with money did it. I find that we do not work together for a common cause,we should be more like bees helping one another for one purpose in mind. We seem to pull in all directions.

Pat,

Although pulling together is a great way to get things done, the freedoms that we have, allow us to do that which we each view as right for us. In the current thinking of most it seems to be "Me First" as an attitude instead of helping others. I do forsee a turn-around in this thinking coming but it still seems to be a few years away.

Jeepontherockz,

As far as content on here, the site is currently maintained by me. It seems I never have enough time to do all those things I want to as the need to do is the first priority. I am willing to allow anyone who wishes to help with the site the access needed to be a moderator. There are some items I am working on that do get posted in the Tribal area of this site. That area is for members of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Indians of NJ. I may have to open an area for all other native members that I can do informational post to all others. As for teaching our ways to non-natives... I want to make them work for that knowledge. Just because it is now the in thing to do does not mean that they really understand what they are learning. From what I have seen most want to learn enough to be able to impress others of what they know and not take it to heart.

Sounds like I am preaching so I will step down for now.

Peace,

I've been reading your post about race. I wish people would come to the point that they are brave enough to admit that there was a great deal of mixture going on here. I teach history and I am always curious about the things that I find. When I returned from Africa afer being there for many years, the first tribe I found out about besides those which were common place, were the Ojibwe. The moment I heard that word, I said, "Hey that's a West African word--probably from Nigeria. When I told that to an Ojibwe woman she said, "Yes." There are things people should own up to. For instance were you aware that when slaves first came here, they did not bring females--and why would they, they have not strength. It was not until the British put an embargo on slavery that women became important for replenishing stock. Did you know that when the pilgrims first came over here there were very few women. Why should they have brought over women and families into an area where it might prove dangerous to them. SO, guess which women were here. Many times I explain to some people who feel very proud that they are full bloods, that the fact that they are, is only because their mothers could run faster than mine.

TEXT windridr,
Thank you for being as blunt as I am about the site. If someone is unhappy about it, let them move on. It takes time to put things together. If you need my help for anything I would be more then happy to help you. As I said, the Nanticoke Lenape nation should all be involved not just viewing the comments. How is it you can go on the chat sites and not be involved with your own nations site.
Winddridr should be complimented on the job that he is doing, it's not easy to do the job of about five people. It reminds me of "The Wizard of Oz"....pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. It seems everyone would like someone else to tell them about being indian, so they can enjoy pow wow, wearing the jewelry, learning a couple of words, become a self made instant chief... I see a lot of that in the penn. pocono area. What makes me mad is the people believe them. They are in our newspapers and they are no more indian then the man in the moon. Prehap that's what i mean, everybody wants to be brown, nobody wants to be black!! Lenape people (if they knew, and did their research) come from the sagamuurs (moors). When my grandmother was alive and lived in Salem New Jersey, they even lived on Moors corner. I notice the name of that street has been changed...that's how we lose heritage...we allow others to change our names, our beliefs, our history to make it benefit them. I have read everything that windridr has posted and chiefptm, I find them to be VERY INFORMATIVE,truthful and honest with people visiting here. If it were 200yrs ago they would have been great leaders for our tribe and that is what all tibes need today, not yes men!!!!

I realy like this site . Keep up the good work...
I would like to see some Book reviews ,for history information so people who are not native americans can get a more accurate picture of what happened to all Nations of The Americas north and south..For healing to begin it has to be acknowledge that it happened, and education is your best tool, to not repeating the past injustices...From understanding comes friendship and respect.
Thank you
